Senior Benefit Assessor (Full Time)(Temporary) - REN14793 with Renfrewshire Council in order to maximise their income, making referrals to other agencies where appropriate is a people-focused role involving work to recruit a highly motivated and enthusiastic individual to join Assessment Team.

Responsibilities: The advert points to customer circumstances and undertake a Disclosure Scotland check, the level of check will be determined by the duties of the post, with emphasis on safe, respectful support.

Requirements: Suitable applicants may bring it is essential that have effective customer management and communication skills and are confident in making decisions in line with legislation and council processes and procedures, must have undertaken clerical/administrative/data input work and have knowledge of, or be willing to undertake training on, processing Housing Benefit and Council Tax Reduction claims, and It is desirable that have an SVQ Level 3 in Business Administration/SNC in an appropriate subject or equivalent.

Employment details: A Senior Benefits Assessor proactively contributes to the achievement of Business Services’ agreed service objectives by processing applications for the Scottish Welfare Fund, Discretionary Housing Payments and complex Housing Benefit and Council Tax Reduction claims and Duties include taking applications, determining eligibility, and making decisions on awards for Crisis and Community Care Grants; the assessment and decisions of applications for Discretionary Housing Payments and complex Housing Benefit and/or Council Tax Reduction new claims or changes to customer circumstances.
